![]() I recommend waiting until the fruit is very ripe before eating, if you think it is ready to eat when it turns yellow, wait a day or so still. But of course, you should experiment by eating a few in the early stages to get a feel of how to tell when it is ready to eat. This variety often will turn bright yellow, have split skins, and even sometimes the fingers will drop off the pedicels and the fruit will be easy to peel, but they will still not be fully ripe. Also, because of their tendency to form the abscission zone early on the skin when ripening which results in "finger drop", I find it is best to cut the hands off while they are still green and let them ripen on a flat surface. Other wise you will likely wake up one morning to find half of the fruits have fallen on the ground and become badly damaged.
