Default First time grower questions.

Hi everyone, I'm new to bananas.org. I just planted 7 musa basjoo about 3 weeks ago. I uploaded a couple of photos which I have some questions about, I'm not sure if anyone has any input? If you look at the pictures I posted I was wondering what to do with the brown leaves (do I just cut them off or trim them)? The second photo is of a bug that I have never seen in my garden. Does this bug have something to do with the banana plant? Thanks.

Hello MikeM. You can just trim the brown stuff from the plant. :^) If the bugs weren't on your banana's they would be in your garden. :^)

Welcome to the org, Mikem. Basjoo is such a tough plant. Japanese beetles were feasting on my leaves until I used Bayer 3 in one. That stopped it.

Exclamation Re: First time grower questions.

Hi All
My first time posting....just a scary thing I came across about Bayer 3 in 1
I have a container here that I won't use, and wish I had read up on it first..It is about to be taken off the market at the end of this year because of its toxicity to bees and humans. It is systemic so gets into your plants and bananas so you will be eating it ! Be careful..you can google more info about it

On a lighter note I need help with Glui Kai....is it a slower grower?does it need an extra something? Thanks

Thought the Glui Kai is a fast grower...as in, it flowers in just under 1 year.

Thanks again for the info, I'll probably stick with the one I already bought for now. Hopefully it works. If not I'll look into the Bayer brand, thanks for the link (and the concern)!
