Default First thing I should ask

I guess the first thing I should ask is if there are any members here living in the Washington D.C. area ? In fact I'd like to hear from any member in easy driving distance of Bethesda as taking a look at what is possible to achieve would be great. We will be living in Bethesda /Chevy Chase area of MD . At first we will rent a house for a while and see if we can buy a place , so I'll be pot growing a lot of stuff for a season to get plants sized up. Advise on growing in the D.C. area would be cool and info on any good local nurseries for Nana's , Aroids and such.
Thanks in advance .
Later
Steve

There's a couple of pins a bit north and south of DC on the map.
However, not everyone has placed their pin on it.
Maybe someone will crawl out of the woodwork there in DC.

I grew up in Wheaton, w/in spitting distance. In fact spitting on BCC high school was something of a town tradition..., but that was back when LBJ was president. The climate is extremely variable- ot was always fairly wet, but there were winters when I didn't wear a jacket, and others when the snow was in 10' drifts. The soil was rich enough for roses, and it seemed everything grew well. I could show you a place near Sligo creek where we used to dump garden cuttings that is now a 20 acre bamboo patch, and there are still Tiger lilies and daffadils for miles along the stream.
Ahh... Childhood memories of environmental corruption! Sooo nostalgic!

Steve, check the Hardy Palm and Subtropical Board. There are quite a few folks that post there who are from the area.
