Default FHIA-2 Mona Lisa

Second crop FHIA-2 Mona Lisa!....another gem from the FHIA family line!.....beautiful, robust and productive "hybrid" banana variety!....Has been praised high by other forum members!....Bigger than my first crop!...11 hands FHIA-2 bunch!.....almost 11 feet tall!...Literally a monster!....

Look at the size of the flower!

Congratulations Hmelendez, that's exciting! Do you know if mona lisa has persistent bracts, and how long did it take for the first bunch to mature from the day the first inflorescence opened?

Nice work! I'm envious. The fruit of this variety are really good, to my and my wife's tastes. But I can't grow FHIA-02 worth beans. Can't tell if it's my climate or the terrible spot I have it in.

If you don't already have it, you may find the pdf you can download from the following link helpful in separating the different FHIA varieties.

Thanks meizzwang!.....FHIA-2 Mona Lisa has persistent bracts, brown/reddish p-stem and leaf petiole channels that are fully open!....My first crop FHIA-2 "Mona Lisa" took 4 months from flowering to mature!.....

Here are a couple of pictures of the FHIA-2 "Mona Lisa" that forum member Gabe15, one of the most experienced member on the forum posted years ago!....

Also you can check on my albums (picture album/gallery) FHIA-2 Mona Lisa for my first crop FHIA-2 Mona Lisa pictures (open to public).....I will keep updating the post/thread!....

Using Cavendish as a baseline, which we all should since everyone knows what they taste like, what is the flavor like? How cold tolerant? How long of a cycle?
Yes, I could look most of that up, but since y'all are talking about them I got lazy...

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

The flavor is similar to Cavendish with a nice very little touch of tartness and better texture.
