It is a synthetic salt mix

It only works on blue bananas. :waving:

Jesus, look at the warnings on this stuff!!! That would certainly get a 65 advisory flag in Cali!:eek::eek: If not an outright ban!

I think you'd be better off mixing blood meal for the N, bone meal for the P and some potash for the K. JMHO, but with those serious warnings taking up that much space on the label, I would be very concerned about long term effects. :2703::2709::2715::2717::2749::(

NPK ratio is not optimal. 300 g is like almost one monthly application for one of my plants so I would probably go broke using that stuff. I would give it a hard pass.

I can't find a supplier for that to get a price. What would be the cost of buying 50 lbs (22.6 kg) in stead of the 10 oz bottle your holding? ..... My current fertilizer cost is about $1.5 to $2 per banana plant. So is would that product be less? ..... Just about any fertilizer product is good ... if you know how to use it!

Saltpeter is potassium nitrate, which will add some numbers, but my concern is still what is in there to flag all of these health warnings? Gunpowder in and of itself, is awesome for your garden, as long as it doesn't get struck by lightning. It contains potassium nitrate, sulphur and charcoal. So again, my concern is what ingredient(s) is/are in this mix that will give my kids - hell, it says I can't have any kids - seven arms?

I realize that I may be overreacting, but I'm not taking the Fauci-ouchy snakebite either. If it looks foul, my advice is to just leave it alone. Look up where your fluoride in your water comes from. It's a byproduct of fly ash. Please, just stick with what you know is safe and works. This does not fit that bill.

If anyone wants to light into me over this, that's fine. You asked an honest question, and you got an honest answer. If after all of this, you decide to use it anyway, it's out of my hands. My final word is still: PLEASE DON'T USE THIS.

Out.

Max, this is obviously from across the pond, which again raises my concerns about safety.

Okay, I have to ask: Did you really mean a dollar fifty per plant?! Or 1.5 - 2 cents per plant? I swear, I'm not trying to be a dick; I just would be flabbergasted if it cost that much.

Actually you are right .... Fertilizer cost $15 for a 50 lb bag of 10-10-10 (30 cents/lb) and SOP cost about 26 cents/ lb. ... Per plant my fertilizer cost is less than $1 (may be about 75 cents). With foliar feeding of bananas I'm saving a little more by reducing fertilizer lost to rain run-off & leching. ..... But none of this includes labor and equipment.

.... OH just picked up a 15 gal FimCo sprayer from Tractor Supply last week for $15. It was returned as defective (bad pump); It WASN'T. So now I can keep insecticide; herbicide; and fertilizer in separate spray tanks.

What am I thinking????? ..... I need 10 lbs fertilizer per plant or corm. At 30 cents/lb that would be $3 plus cost of SOP about 30 cents.
