That’s a lot of stuff to mix. Is it cheaper that way?

I don't mix the fertilizers. I measure out and apply the urea to all the plants and then do the same thing with the MOP/SOP. I only apply the SA Minors in the beginning of the season. Then water everything in with the hose. I apply once per month. Nothing cheaper than Urea and MOP unless you have access to free cow manure or something. I prefer SOP to MOP but it can be a bit pricey and is hard to find some years locally.

Ok, got it. Where do you usually find it?

My best local supply store is Ewing Irrigation and Landscape Supply. They have one near you in Friendswood. Some years I have had to order the SOP from an Internet supplier.

I get my Urea and MOP from Site One Landscape Supply. They have branches all over the US.

One last question. If you fertilize with liquid or dry pellets for that matter…how big of a ring do you lay down? Last time I fertilized with liquid, I did a 6-12” ring around the base. I’m thinking maybe that’s why I had issues.

My banana plants are approximately 5' apart so I spread in a circle from the pstem to 2.5' which is the midpoint betweeen the plants. I don't pile it right around the pstem but spread it out. I might get a little near the pstem but I don't worry about it if it happens.

Ok, I will try that tomorrow. I need to install some edge guard around the plants. The St. Augustine keeps coming into the mulch. Today I took the weed eater and made a 6” ring around the plants.

I saw some edge guard that uses spikes and there’s no digging required. I might try that. Not sure how effective that will be.

Anybody use this? Go to 3:40:

!9-19 19.....is on sale ......best for bananas in my zone.
However....fertilizers that are best for bananas vary by zone.
Growers in your area use triple 15 on up.
Have fun choosing
