For bananas it's generally recommend something with an NPK ratio of 2-1-3 works best. For ornamentals use something with a bit more N. I also like to use a bit higher N in the spring to get things going.

I use 6-3-16 but that is due to the conditions of my soil. You are going to get different recommendations due to the differences of soil around the world. Just remember that bananas are heavy potassium feeders and a soil test is worth it's weight in gold.
