Feral FHIA-17

Large mat of FHIA-17 growing wild near mountain road with at least 4 large bunches hanging in the photo.

Wish they would produce fruit like that here. Nice pic.

A nice thing about the FHIA-17 is they have a longer ripe shelf life than Cavendish.

Negrita doesn't care about shelf life, she'll eat an entire bunch and take a break. :waving:

If I ate a whole bunch I would take a break too. Used to have a horse but never thought to give them bananas. Does she eat them straight off the plant?

If she can reach them on the plant they'll be gone well before they're ripe.

She hasn't drank water for at least a couple of weeks. When she's thirsty she heads over to a carambola tree. Carambola are like eating sweet water balloons. :birthdaynana:

"Vieques is best known internationally as the site of a series of protests against the United States Navy's use of the island as a bombing range and testing ground, which led to the Navy's departure in 2003. Today the former navy land is a national wildlife refuge; some of it is open to the public, but much remains closed off due to contamination and/or unexploded ordnance that the military is slowly cleaning up."

I believe this photo of a 260 pound FHIA-17 bunch was taken in Africa.
