ensete maurelli ripped halfway out of the ground, unstable. fixable?

so wind blew my maurelli around pretty bad last year. it's ripped halfway out and I staked it hoping it would re-root itself... but instead it's just continuing to thrive and put on leaves while the corm is 75% disconnected. If the stake was removed it would rip the rest of the way out under it's own weight.

Is it possible to repair the roots on this thing some how? trigger it some way? should I score the corm? cut chunks? apply something? mound up the dirt and hope it starts sprouting from high up? any thoughts so I don't lose this thing?

Hi Kurt,

since this happened last year and the plant keeps on growing well, it is reasonable
to assume, that the portion of the root base, which is still anchored in the ground
has sent out enough roots to support the plant.

Here is what i would do:
- make sure that the PS is well supported and cannot collapse again
- pile enough soil around the exposed part of the root base, so it is well covered.

That will give the plant the opportunity to send out roots also on that side of the
base. These roots will eventually penetrate into the original ground and add to the
stability of your E. Maurelii.

PS: I am puzzled how an E. Maurelii can still be in the same, obviously outdoor spot
(wind) in the ground from last year in HZ5?
Just curious.

If it was mine I would dig it up, trim the top down & trim what roots was left & replant to start the plant all over again.. you will have a healthy & good looking plant when done.
