Default The Effect of Uniconizole on Dwarf Namwah

Only the one on the left was given a soil drench of 1 ppm uniconazole on 12/16/18. The plants were identical at the time, in identical pots. The treated plant was repotted on 7/3/19.

Remarkably, the biggest difference is a thicker pseudostem.

and more leaves - quite a lot more which really helps its appearance.
What were you trying to accomplish? And where did you get the chemical? Looks like something neat to experiment with.

It's so that it will fit into my greenhouse during the winter and possibly fruit there.

I bought uniconazole (I misspelled it in the title) on Ebay about 3 years ago. There were many sellers, but, now, I can't find any. Same for Aliexpress. It cost me about $10 for 1 gram. There is an American made version, Sumagic, that is still available, but it costs a fortune.

I do not recommend Sumagic because it is a gyp.

Pot size (and thus root mass) might explain the difference in performance.

I read Greenhouse grower magazine and they constantly have articles on PGRs (Plant growth regulators) of which there are many different ones. Never paid attention as not interested in slowing or dwarfing mums or whatever - but will now pay attention as great idea for dwarfing the banana to make it manageable indoors!!
Will report back when learn a bit more!

During the summer, I gave it many additional doses of uniconazole without additional effect. I am pessimistic about it not outgrowing my greenhouse. Even if it fruits, the fruits will be inedible due to an unsafe concentration of uniconazole. 1 ppm is the recommended concentration for a soil drench on tomato seedlings but, otherwise, uniconazole is not approved for food crops.

The bananas split in last week's cold rainy weather. I doubt that I will get fully ripe ones.
