Hi, There is a site map at the bottom of eBay's web page. You might check there or click on "Community". I know eBay is pretty sensitive about any sellers who con people. It's hard to catch them, though. I bought something from a woman on eBay, sent her a check and she never sent the item. Since then I use PayPal. Haven't had a problem yet, cross my fingers. What happened?

zinniasjm, no such thing as AeAe seeds.
Pups are the only way, you can't even successfully tissue culture them.

This is probably the 4th or 5th time he's posted auction for this plant's seeds. On his 2nd post, I emailed him to ask if the small plant in the picture of his ad were a plant he sprouted from of a seed of his alledged hybrid. It took him a while, but he responded that he's sold many of the seeds before, and apologized that he has no more of them.

Then wouldn't you know it, a couple of days later, I looked at eBay, and there it was, a new auction for the seeds. So, I emailed him again, and emphasized that I was asking if the plant in his ad was from the seed of his alledged hybrid. That was over 2 weeks ago. Well, well . . . today I get this e-mail from him and he boldly says, "Ye it is from one of the seeds. Thank you, . . . . mantisbee". I don't know if his auction is already closed, but earlier, when I looked, the bid was in high 40's.

I hate crooks like that. Why do people think they need to do things like this. I think if anyone ever finds something like this on ebay again then you should contact the bidder and let them know to not buy this product. I just did that on the one that is being sold right now.

Wow! That would be brave. I mean, modenacat turned him in on the previous auction, and eBay still let him run this current one. So, eBay must be satisfied that the Seller is not misrepresenting himself. This guy must be the ultimate in "lawyer-ship", if there's such a word. He's covered himself enough to get his ad through eBay review, then be allowed to continue with his ads. I know that eBay shuts down ads when they find something fraudulent. I ordered some software form someone in GB, and an hour after I paid for the item, I could not check on the ad again because eBay had closed it. I did get the software without any problem and it looked like the real thing, with documentation and all. But apparently, it was pirated, which is why eBay shut them down.

Then on the other hand, telling the buyer(s) about this potentially fraudulent auction, may not result in any withdrawals because these buyers must already know what the real thing costs. So, they are willing to continue gambling on the chance that it may be for real. If it is, and God bless them, the 15 seeds actually sprout, what a payback.

Mind you, I myself am tempted. That was why I emailed the Seller if the plant in his ad was a seedling from his hybrid plant. Though, despite his reply, I'm still skeptical. I'm an engineer. And I've done some things that some of my peers have said couldn't be done. That's another reason why I'm so fascinated by this guy's explanation. To an extent, it does make some sense. The difference between engineering procedures and growing something that is what it is supposed to be, is that engineering process may be proven with mathematics and scientific data within a reasonable period of time. A seedling in this case will probalbly require years before it is proven conclusively.

Had this Seller collaborated with a reputable banana expert or plant organization, and they can attest to the source of the seeds, well, the guy can be rich. We'd probably be all lining up for a couple of seeds, like in saga of the M. Siam Red.

I remember in the late-mid 90's, Stokes was peddling the Musella Lasiocarpa seedling for $350. They tauted it to be the rarest of all of banana-dom. 3 years later, Oglesby Plants had them for $.90 per plant with a minimum purchase of a 72-plug tray. Now, of course, you can get them for as low as $1.99 each plus shipping and up.

I am always tempted to buy rare seeds from eaby unless I am 100% it won't come true, its just because it is soo expensive to get the plants up here to Canada first I would have to buy the $200 dollar plant then get a phyto. certificate and have it shipped express or what ever to have it here in a couple of days. I wish we had the kind of nurseries and garden centers you have in the U.S.

That's what I mean. He had just replied to me today, that the plant in the picture IS, IN FACT, from one of the seeds of his hybrid. Again, I say, had he collaborated a some known authority on this subject, we would all be lining up trying to get a couple of those seeds. But he didn't, so here we are pondering his "crookedness". LOL. How do we disprove him, unless we can get one of his "seedlings" to find out what the rhizome looks like. That is, whether or not, it has a side wound that would indicate that it is a pup.

To people like Mr. Valenciaguy, it might be just too tempting under his circumstances. Maybe, we should all just pitch in and buy the plant in the picture of his ad, if he even wants to sell it. Then we can see for ourselves.

It's not even worth finding out what his pup picture is. He probly ripped of those pictures too. By the sounds of his description, hes probly selling Ensete ventricosum seeds. I could tell in a second what they were if I saw a picture of the seeds he's selling.

I just wanted to let you know that if eBay or the seller catches on, you could get kicked off eBay for it. It's called 'auction interference' & from what I've read on the eBay forums, they take a hard line on it. Even when it's the right thing to do - like protecting other eBayers from fraudulent sellers!

The bidding or selling forums on eBay might give an answer on how to handle this creep. The sellers there take other sellers defrauding buyers harder than eBay does!

Bah!! let them bid on those seeds. Let them spend 40 bucks on 15 seeds. People need to do research or learn before they buy. But!!! sometimes its better to learn the hard way. Hey! maybe those seeds will sprout and then you can get some white paint and work some magic???

Like I said earlier, some people will want to take a chance because if they get what the Seller is alledging, then it's a big payback for, what? - the highest bid so far was around $76! If the get the germination rate of 67% as the Seller alledges, that's 10 plants, or $7.60 per plant. Comapre that to the lowest that the plant is going for now, $120!

Personally, I won't go for it, as I can see many of you won't either.
