![]() You can cut off the male bud now if you want. It won't make any more fruits.

![]() Seriously though, full sun, lots of nutrients, and plenty of water are required for big bunches. If you are giving it that, there's nothing else you can do. The next pup from this plant that flowers will probably make more bananas even if you do nothing different. That's just how it works with bananas. The "ratoon crops" are bigger than the "plant crops" in banana speak. |

![]() The weather is getting colder in my area. The size of the bananas seem to be larger, but they're not looking any more ripe than the 1st photo. Will the cold temps harm the fruits? When, or should I cut them off? These seem to take forever to ripen.
Thanks, |

![]() How does one tell if they have a true dwarf? I have tall Orinoco and I was given a plant that is suppose to be dwarf. Right now its p-stem is a little over 5 ft.

![]() Dwarf plants tend to have shorter petioles and a stockier build, not to mention a shorter pseudostem.

Like Tony said, the longer you can leave them on the plant without them getting frost damaged, the more they will fill out and ripen properly. If you were only going to get a couple of frosts per winter, it might even be worth wrapping the bunch in a blanket on those night to allow them to stay on the plant to keep filling. |

![]() Nice plants Want Them All, how did your Dwarf Orinoco bunch turn out?
Yikes that's a long wait! My DO should probably flower this year, but the prospect of small bunches of inferior fruit that take extra long to ripen has me thinking about digging it out. ![]()
