Number 2 DO, same mat, has popped the bud. Number 1 is plumping well - ready soon for tostones - with mojo of course. Once more proving the Dwf Orinoco does great in south Fla. Fastest to produce fruit from pup. Very robust with deep green and very thick leaves. Wintered the 2 light frosts of 2007 with just slight leaf burn. No sign ever of bug or disease problems. And it is a prolific pupper. Just loves this muck sand soil and custom 6-2-12 from Going Bananas in Homestead.
As the chairman says ....... Whose racime reigns supreme? The Dwf O, that's who! Is that the Food Network? ........... no, it's the Banana Network!!! B-mal DO #1 plumping DO#2 popping |

Greenie,
This is the 1 foot pup that went in the ground attached to the mama in November last year. It was potted for over 2 years coming from Charlotte, NC. Look at the difference in the caliper of the pup behind the parent. Almost double the diameter. I'm afraid to guess how many naners the pup will produce. I've been checking into different charities that will accept produce when all my other guys produce in the spring time. This is my first year with 15 banana types and I really don't know what kind of a yield to expect. Dan |
