Congrats to you
Ha haha Very nice to see more blooming going on here in Sunny South Florida and it looks like for a few weeks we both will have good weather for our blooms. As long as it don’t freeze were good to go ! My Apples bloomed and I’m on my 2nd hand so I am, hoping for nice weather until all the hands are exposed |

My dwarf Namwah pushed out a flower about a month ago. I have 58 fingers and no way to grow them over the winter here in Philly.

Mike --- I harvested the Lima with the Goldfinger. The Lima was so puny I didn't post a pic. Most of the fingers never filled in.
Dave --- Do what I did when the Dwarf Orinoco flowered in late Oct when I was in Charlotte, NC. Get a big pot, dig it up and hand truck it into the house. Put it where it gets light. I dragged mine upstairs and put it in the garden tub under the sky light. I harvested 72 fruit. And make an appt with a chiropractor first -- just in case. Dan |

Hey Dan what is the formula for that. Let's see my Orinoco is about 18' feet tall
plus the diameter of a swollen basket ball. Divide that by several hernias and multiply two bulging dics equals a long visit with the neuro surgeon. Did I get that right. |

Great formula Charles!! That was a dwarf Orinoco I carried upstairs. Anything bigger - forget it.
Thinking back, it would have been a whole lot easier to bring up the plant bareroot and then put it and the soil in the pot once it was in the tub. But I was younger then ..... and it was a very good year --- blah blah blah. From earlier bouts of lower back pain I learned from a Chiropractor how to prevent problems berfore it's too late. After finishing laborious tasks involving bending over, planting on hands/knees and digging holes immediately use the ice packs. He prescribed using 2 Chiropractic ice packs that are kept in the freezer at all times. With only a thin t-shirt between your lower back and the bed lay on the first pack for 20 mins. You will make a lot of noise for awhile. Warn the family and the dog. Then 20 mins off, followed by 20 mins on with the second pack. Repeat this procedure before bed if you feel you have to. This will prevent problems later and avoid a visit back to the Chiro guy -- only to be told to do the 20 min on-off-on thing again. And "that will be $35.00 please". Since then I have never had to see another Chiro. When the packs wear out just get a pair from another Chiro guy. |

Dan,
That's very interesting. If I feel the need I usually use a heating pad which makes you feel great while you are on it! I'll try the cold treatment next time. |
Re: Dwarf Namwah flowers in Nov - Ai yai yai yai yai!
My wife is a nurse and a certified massage therapist who has a husband with surfing related back injuries that I'll always have issues with. She has always told me to go 20 min ice, 20 min heat, back and forth as many times as it takes. That and Advil and or red wine!. Tiger Balm works great if you get back spasms.
The idea is that the ice gets the swelling down and the heat brings the healing blood flow and relaxes the muscles so they hopefully don't cramp/spasm. |
Re: Dwarf Namwah flowers in Nov - Ai yai yai yai yai!
The Chiropracator told me that cold is for joint issues and heat is for muscles.
Of course they used to say the opposite years before. Like for the dog -- vets once said use tylenol for hip dispasia -- and today they say it's bad for them. |
