I'm hoping that my Dwarf Namwahs start fruiting soon as well, this is a bad time of year to fruit for an anxious person like myself you start looking at a 4-5 month long wait for a good banana

if no one could find the namwah pics in my gallery here goes.. the seller said he could confirm this was really namwah. does this look like anyones namwah pups??? they are really starting to take off lately. im just glad i dont see any more red spots.
both of these things were about the size of my thumb when i got em..i took a risk and i put em directly into the ground. i hope to get a lot of growth next year. i will have lots of pups available next year to trade maybe??? Last edited by ron_mcb : 10-10-2009 at 09:34 AM. Reason: pics |

Hi Ron!
I have one of the 'supposed' 2 DNW that no longer have the spotting either. Replacement TC's I received died 2 days after I potted them. ![]() Repotting the older ones today, pics to come. ~Cheryl

I starting to wonder if the red spots is caused by the TC, Because I have Supposed Grand Nain TC and started showing Red spots, that now seem to be going away.
just my observation. |

the seller was trying to tell me to wait it out and see what happens(he told everyone the same thing). i sent him a pic that looked like a high color mini (deep red marking). thats when he sent two pups to make up for his mistake. i was stating that the new pups the seller sent didnt have spotting to begin with...which is good in my case. i dont want to raise any new cavandish varieties. also the only cavandish variety he was offering at the time was double mahoi.i called it double mahoi when i saw the red spots for that reason. the first plant i recieved now looks like my two gran nains with its red spots and p stem. i wonder who is his supplier??? ![]() Last edited by ron_mcb : 10-10-2009 at 03:49 PM. |

I have a Raji Puri pup that has red spots, but I have had 6 others that never had red spots--there is no doubt this is RP--I collected it from the parent myself.

I have seen way too many Nam Wahs over the past 10 months and have never seen red spots. They should be green with a pink midrib, that being said it is totally possible that someone mixed them up either at the tissue culture lab or after they potted them out.

So far the plants are like perfect clones.
They all have the same BIG buds and 10 to 11 hands on each stalk. ![]()

Not much change here...
They appear to have no shock from being potted up! Woot! ![]() I fert. them once last week & we have had some crazy temp. swings here where I am. Have been moved to near the covered porch to shelter them some as the cooler weather moves in. ~Cheryl

Hi Clare.
I had that on my watch list!! Sorry you paid so much for it, but I'm glad it is in the "family". Sounded just like mine from the description. Go to the galleries and look at the pictures of 'varig8'. He shows one that looks EXACTLY like my plant he calls 'Miami Gold'. When I contacted him he said mine was 'marginata', but I have that and I'm not an idiot - I know the difference. The only similarity between it and 'marginata' is the color. Leaf shape and the build of these plants is completely different. For that matter it doesn't look like the real dwarf namwahs in this thread either. My plant still looks the same except for being shredded by falling acorns. Growth was steady but slow this summer, and it is staying outside for the winter. I did move it to a spot closer to the house to give it better protection and to plant something else in its place. Since it has been so slow and shows no sign of puppies I need that space for something bigger. Congratulations on winning the whatever-it-is! I will be interesting to compare notes. Russell |

If this thread was to persuade me to get a Dwarf Namwah it has succeeded!
Some questions - Has anyone grown this in tropical Northern California? Can anyone recommend a good vendor to buy this banana? Thanks to everyone for the great pictures, my next job is to persuade my wife on buying a place in Florida Sid |
