Cheryl;
I did happen to take a picture this morning. The fruit flowers seem to have stopped and the male flowers are showing themselves. The Honey Bees keep working away, there are usually eight or ten on the flower all day. Supporting the pseudostem is in the near future to keep it from drooping. I dug up some shoots from the bottom, but there we no roots. After putting them in potting soil; sure enough they have taken off! Pretty soon the satellite images may show Dwarf Namwah's spreading across South Florida.

Mine has 2 that are just starting to grow well , the mother is maybe close to 5 ' I guess. I'm surprised to hear they had no roots. |

A Picture tells a much better story.
These are two Dwarf Namwah corms I was trying to thin out. They looked like Rhino Horns and had no roots. After putting them in potting soil for a week or two they have developed roots and are starting to grow. Here in South Florida it has been raining, hot and humid so the corms have to be thinned out or the plants will take over. BTW they are in three gallon pots.

Thanks Scot and the pictures do tell a better story for sure. I'll be in no hurry at all to cut pups off of mine which won't get in to the ground till next year anyway.

I wouldn't keep mine so close to the chlorine vapors from the pool.

It looks like you have two different types of plants there, Cheryl...
Unless the one lacking the red spots has been in less sun than the one with red, they are different. |

Great pictures on this thread. For anyone who is still looking for a Dwarf Namwah, I just got a really nice-looking one from Sandy0225 who had an ad in the Classified section here. It's a really nice beefy plant.

I too am enamoured with the dwarf namwah. After eating Thai bananas from our Asian market all summer, I was looking forward to my namwah fruit.
It now has a flag leaf and fall is on its way! 15 and 1/2 months from a tiny tissue culture to a flag. I may have to work on inventing a device to keep the plants warm.

Maybe someone can help me with this....
I bought this little guy from ebay seller mda1515 last February as nam wah 'pearl'. Seems like it was supposed to be variegated, but I can't remember. You can see that it is sort of a lime green color. It is only about 3 ft tall to the top of the plant - growth has been very slow. Does anyone else have one of these? Is dwarf nam wah a slow grower? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Russell |

Hey Russel;
I have a Namwah pup I pulled off and had to cut the pseudostem back. The new leaves emerged a little broader just like yours. As for the color, who knows they may need more sun or it may be a variance in the stock. Good Luck

Nick;
I live in Jupiter here is a picture of mine when it flowered. I am 5' 11". The flower is right at 7 feet from the ground to where it emerged from the plant.
