Sitting on the front porch sipping a cold drink searching the web for an answer to my question. So far, no luck.
I have 2 dwarf cavs that I bought at local nursery. Each plant 2-3 years old in pot busting at the seams. Pots are full of babies. Separated them all and now all those have babies. The larger 2 of the originals are growing but not very fast but are pupping like mad. Would it be beneficial to remove most pups so parent plant can grow or is it ok to leave them together until babies are large enough to safely separate. What would produce best growth for original plant? Thanks much for any and all info. Mike |

The easiest answer: take them out of the pots and plant them in the ground.

I'm by no means an expert but I would dig a mighty hole (at least 2x bigger than the pot), amend it with compost or some rich soil and plant the entire package. Water well and let them grow.

Most people probably would recommend to reduce the number of pups to two or three followers. I personally suck doing that. My banana mats are way too big. But sometimes it can also be beneficial if you want to increase the corm mass. So having said that, for now I would probably just plant it in the ground with pups like Kat said and see how it will do.
