I think the LED grow lights are better. I ordered some from here
led grow lights -Sunshine Systems : Home and also picked up the blue LED grow panel from ebay

Steven, there are as many different opinions on grow-light preferences, as there are types of grow lights. There are some good threads on this subject from all perspectives, and I am certain you will find the one that is correct for you there.

Simply search under the keywords: "grow lights"

As to the dead leaves, if they are just dry, you can trim them close to the pstem. If they are rotting, they should be peeled away from the pstem and cut off for your compost pile. Rot appears as moist, brown (coffee colored) tissue and should be removed to prevent its spread.

What zone are you? I keep mine under florescence...so bright light and I keep them on the dryer side for the winter months...Keep the mites off by wiping the leaves, top and bottom with a little warm soapy water, weekly and dont fertilize until the days get longer and brighter...then put them outside.
Nice tropical soil mix with perlite to keep it well drained...as far as fruiting...mine have yet to do that....hping this year....if anyone has any suggestions on getting them to fruit?????cheers.....

Move to the tropics! It's too short of a season where you live. lol
