dwarf cavendish

I just was given a "dwarf cavendish". It was a TINY plant - 4" tall, grew in what looks like a 50 tray. "root" ball was maybe 1 1/4 inch in diameter and 1 inch deep (so not even a 50 tray - almost like a plug tray. BUT it appears that this grew from seed (and in fact I was sent some seed labeled "dwarf Cavenish M. acuminata". but a note on it said "edible like store one, but smaller".
If it can be grown from seed, strikes me that it is not very edible.
Any comments??

They are tissue culture plants.

I sort of wondered about that as all our seeded material has different root structures. Agristarts maybe was the source? I guess we will see when they grow up :-)- both were called dwarf cavendish, both had Musa acuminata under that - makes me think that these are not truly edible (or barely edible). I was just told that Grin is sending us 18 various plants to play with - we trust that they will be properly named! (hopefully a dwarf cavendish to compare!) (Though we have had surprises dealing with Davis as well as National Arboretum).

With TC plants, you never know what you’ll get. Mostly due to agristarts’ level of quality control...
