Dwarf Brazilian?

Here is my dwarf something or other that has been working growing the biddest dang flower I've ever seen! I kid you not the flower bud is nearly as round as the P-stem at the base and this little guy has pretty hefty trunk on it! Anyone think they can ID it yet?

Mitchel,

When you say very large bloom, I think of Dwarf Namwah. Any chance that is what you've got? You can usually tell that one when the fruit gets a little size on it. It has a pretty distinctive color to the fruit as it develops.

Yes, the flowers looks like my dwarf brazilian. It has big blooms! The way the pups are formed similar to my clump.

Richard, I don't know! The only thing I know is that the fruits are extremely sweet and very small with zero acidity. I tasted the fruits from the mother plant this came from.

Joe, do you have any pictures of yours?

Gabe you out there? You said it would unmistakable when it flowered. Is this it?

Jon, any ideas? Do I need to wait for male flowers again?

Mitchel,

Do you remember if the fruit were relatively large in diameter for their length and was the flesh white in color and very creamy? These are characterisitics of my Namwahs. I can get a picture or 2 of the bunch in the morning but the whitish/blueish tint to the skin of the developing fruit is a good clue.

Richard, the fruits were already ripe, very ripe so the green color was long gone. Honestly I don't remember the color of the flesh but I do know it was not orange like the Apples. One thing, they are definitely slender and very small.

One more thing, they seem to have a lot more fingers per hand than any others I have seen.

My dwarf brazilian turns out to not be a dwarf brazilian - have a pic over in the Identification section - gonna have to rush out and order one!

momoese I'm no expert but looking at the leafs it looks just like my DB
i got that from Bananamal so i know its the real thing hes had his for years this was one of his pups and i understand from other threads that they do have vary large flowers i think thats a hang over from the regular Brazilian which is a mite big banana plant to begin with nice looking plant by the way
and pretty tall for a DB I think you have done a really grate job on growing that one and i think that because you are in Scal its not that easy with the low humidity and high temps gives me some hope i think my Db will flower in the next 6 months keeping my fingers crossed keep posting those pics

It turned out to be a Dwarf Cavendish. The stand has two bunches hanging right now. I'll be replacing it this spring with another more desirable dwarf.

This is an old thread and maybe Mitchel isn't subscribed to it. I wrote him about it and he said that this ended up being a Dwarf Cavendish. It' s history (gone)!

I've got two plants in a row with fruit and you have three...wow! I've got those blue-green garbage bags over my bunches right now, though I don't know if it really helps much or not. You don't get as cold as me but it still gets cool down there. When do you expect your bunches will ripen?

Well, unlike Jon I don't write on them with a sharpie and I can't remember exactly when they flowered so I'll just wait until some of them turn yellow! Maybe another couple months or so. Sometimes I have to look at the dates from when I upload pictures to my gallery for clues to when they bloomed. I guess I really should start marking them! I just the other day had to look at my PK pics for a clue as to when it's bunch will be ready. It's only 4.5 months now, but it seems much longer!
