![]() I would recommend Super Dwarf Cavendish, Dwarf Cavendish and Raja Puri as potential options for success. Any dwarf is a potential option, but dwarf brazilian is probably a stretch!

I wouldn't use anything smaller than a 25-gallon container and a good sunroom with a tall clear roof or an attached greenhouse would be nice. Be aware that during the heat of the year, that nanner will suck that soil dry pronto - faster as it matures, so a bigger container is better. Now, I have seen some fancy houses that had an indoor atrium - that is a good option. Or a sunroom with a hole in the floor to allow access to the soil. Of course, there's always a greenhouse. Or pseudostem-protection over the winter. Or depending on where you live, you could dig up the corms and stem every Fall and store it at 55F over the winter and plant it in the ground in the Spring. This might be helpful: Time to put the bananas to sleep for the Winter It's not impossible tho - here's a fruiting Rajapuri in a pot indoors: Indoor fruiting 'Raja Puri' Last edited by mikevan : 08-22-2010 at 08:57 AM. |

![]() Wow Bryan, that is a gorgeous beauty, also! I hope mine will be as nice as you and Bob's someday...
Thanks Bob, for the encouragement about getting some fruits. I've followed your advice and I give it a heavy blooming formula every couple of weeks. One thing though... I find banana plants in containers need a whole lot of water and sometimes find myself watering them twice a day in extreme heat. : o |

![]() Ha ha.... finally in writing that you took my ( or anyones) advice !!!!!( note to self..... play lottery today
![]() Do you water your potted plants by hand? I use larger pots and I think that's likely a big key. During the highest heat I water once a day but nothings ever been allowed to dry too much. I fill the pots with a hose and then come back and do it again when I do water. The plants in the ground have cheap landscape edging in rings around each banana and I drop the hose and walk away.... sometimes for quite a while since this summers been hot and dry. |

![]() I'll have you know, smart a**, that I take lots of advice...
just not yours! ![]() I suppose you think I should keep a 10 gallon pot in my living room window?! ![]() If it was outside in a permanent position, I might, but indoors it's just not possible. I heard that SDC will still fruit in a small pot anyway. I do agree and know that larger pots prevent frequent waterings however. : ) |
