Dwarf Apple and Gros Michel
My Dwarf Apple is growing well, but the new leaves don't appear to be increasing in size much from when I planted it. The small leaves below were from before I got it. The top 5 or 6 are all new ones. The tiny pup at the back seems to be getting a little larger, now.
[IMG][/IMG] Here is a Gros Michel 'Highgate' from a local 'nanner expert'. It must have some good roots now, after getting it with no roots, but a really healthy looking corm. They must be pulling in some nutrients and water to feed those new leaves. [IMG][/IMG] It has same beautiful red-edged open petioles that are a characteristic of all the GM's. Re: Dwarf Apple and Gros Michel
Nice! I was going to ask you about that Dwarf "Apple", when I noticed you are in Hawaii. Your Dwarf Apple is what we would call Dw. Brazilian. Had any problems with diseases? I understand that some areas of Hawaii have.

Also, I don't really know for sure that the Dwarf Apple is really a dwarf variant of the actual 'Apple' bananas. Also, if related to the Brazilian or Dwarf Brazilian, do those display any of the 'blood' marks when young? Not any of the Dwarf Apple that I've seen has ever displayed those marks. The only disease I've ever had in the past was when I noticed one of the pups from my Ae Ae was beginning to show BBTV symptoms. I sprayed it, sprayed it again, and destroyed the mat. Gotta do what you gotta do... (that was long after I gave you that Ae Ae pup, Gabe, so no worries) Last edited by Yug : 06-18-2019 at 02:55 AM. |
