Difference between Truly Tiny, Little Prince and Super Dwarf Cavendish
I bought a small variety at Home Depot this summer. What is the major difference between Truly Tiny, Little Prince and Super Dwarf Cavendish, how do you tell the apart?
Are these even three different varieties or three names for just two varieties since I read that one is a Brazilian and one should be a variety of Cavendish? Any insight appreciated! Thanks Peter |

Probably truly super little.

I don't have 'Little Prince,' but I know that my 'Truly Tiny' pups like crazy and became a massive plant albeit a short one. It has some beautiful leaves and does well in the ground here in Zone 10. The stems are pretty thick too. I have a SDC also, and it has stayed very small, grows very slowly, and has a thin stem, but that could be attributable to its growing conditions, I suppose.
Edited to say: Jon, you crack me up:-) |

All three are smaller versions of dwarf Cavendish, from what I read. My understanding is that they are different mutants of DC, but pretty similar.

There's wide agreement that Little Prince is an Extra Super Dwarf Cavendish, but Truly Tiny has been called a Cavendish by some and a Brazilian by others.

I can confirm...it's definitely not a cavendish.
I'm from boynton beach, florida and I know the grower of the truly tiny banana plant personally ( she owns a nursery called truly tropicals in boynton beach and submitted the original corm for tissue culture with agristarts ). The corm was a mutation off of a Brazilian banana so the fruit is a dwarf form of Brazilian apple. |
