![]() My large Abagnale(namwah?) planted in a giant pot was somehow knocked over. Not the pot, but the plant itself was bent over near the base and the stem didn't break but looks bent.
I pushed it straight and propped it up temporaily, will it be okay? Anything that I can do to fix or help it? I had noticed the big leaves had gotten bent down somehow but thought maybe it was frost damage(although it was covered) or wilting. I think now that a cat jumped on it off my roof. Any advice? Poor Abagnale... he just doesn't look happy at all. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hard to show the damage, it's dark. You can kind of see a bulge, it fell to the left of this picture. I put a pipe tripod over the whole thing and tied it so it's hanging upright. |

![]() No, that's the stick I had propping it up until I could locate the pipes. It bent right near the dirt.

![]() Now that it's propped up, I say look for the next cigar leaf, or mark any leaf already emerging with a marker. If you see growth in the next week, let 'er keep going. If you go a week or more without any additional growth you may want to consider cutting back to the bend point to remove dead/dying tissue and make sure there is a clear path for new growth.

![]() Thanks! That's a great tactic. I'll give it a close look tomorrow if I can get home from work before dark! I petted it today and gave it a encouraging talk.

![]() If there is still no sign of growth (it's been 11 days since your initial post), you may want to seriously consider cutting back to the bend point. You'll probably want to have a close look at that spot, feel if it's gone soft, then start working your way down. You may be able to cut away the outside layers and be left with a relatively intact interior. Once freed it might shoot up. (but I suspect you may have to cut the whole Pstem all the way down to the bend)
Huzzah Pups! I can see at least three in the picture you posted!
