Nick do you know them? It appeared there were are least two different cultivars of bananas.

No, I do research on a lychee/longan farm down the street on North road, and I pass by that farm every time that I go out there. I know that they grow Thai Bananas they were just in an article in the Palm Beach Post about how crappy the lychee market was right now.

Loxahatchee tropical fruit growers stung by depressed prices

Nick,

Do you know what variety all the (relatively) new grove plantings on Krome Avenue in Homestead are?

Chris

All the bananas on Krome that I have seen are Nam Wahs either the tall version or the dwarf version. People do still grow platano Burro down there but given the potential to make about $10k/acre on Nam Wahs most of what you see new is going to be Nam Wah. The field that is on the right hand side as you come in to agricultural area past Kendall is definitely Nam Wah.
