Default Cyclops Mountain Range Orange Bananas

Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds posted this today on FB. Gabe?

Quote:
In this picture Alicia Simcox is in New Guinea with a wild harvested stem of a wild banana species with orange fruit. It is called : Musa peekelii and it is pretty rare to find. Joe and Alicia and team hiked in to the Cyclops Mountain Range to find this specimen! There are more than 120 different banana species, and hundreds and hundreds of "domesticated" clones. domesticated bananas for the most part don't produce seeds, the wild ones do and they are filled with "peppercorn" like black or brown seeds!

Here is a photo of a very rare Banana originally from Tahiti called the Fehi Type. Unlike their cousins, the bananas produce an erect fruiting stalk. Here Christopher Carter, aka, Coconut Chris cuts down a laden stalk on a variety called "Afara" that he has growing on his ranch in Honokaa Hawaii. This is one amazing banana!

It's here but the few that have it don't want anyone to know.

Gabe had trouble trying to grow it in HA but Chris seems to be doing quite well. Maybe a variety issue.

Do you know Chris Gabe?
