Default Is the clear liquid that comes out of the sides of the *leaves* banana sap?

Hi all —

I know that banana sap from a cut stem/leaf can stain clothing. But are the drops of what look like pure water that leak out of the sides of the leaves after watering sap, or water? I've just moved a young mahoi inside to my parents house after a summer on the deck, and after watering it last night, big drops of clear liquid that *looks* like water are gathering on the leaves and occasionally dripping down onto the couch beneath it. If this is sap that will stain, I will need to move it; if it's just water, that's fine.

e: some googling suggests this might be water transpired through the leaves?

I think you already have your answer. Just look at the couch where the drops landed. If it's sap, the couch will definitely be stained (and you will have some explaining to do to your parents). If the couch isn't stained, then it wasn't sap.

The only time a banana plant bleeds sap is when it is cut or injured in some way.

Thanks. I actually haven't had much experience with sap — relatively new to the banana game. This looked like water, but it felt/smelled a little off, so I was just being cautious. But after doing more research sounds like transpiration.
