Hi Blake09

I think you have misread what i have wrote.I have a variegated AE AE not a plain green one, well not yet anyway until it pups, what I'm saying is when a green pup on a Ae Ae gets bigger does it produce green pups or half of each.

where can I buy an all green Ae Ae? Lore has it that the variegated plants are less common than the all green ones.
and
Is Ae Ae the name of the cultivar or the variegated individuals?

An all green a'ea'e can produce variegated pups and can also produce completely white pups.

I had that same question about 10 years ago and I posted the results but never saw your thread until it appeared at the bottom of the page in the category Similar Threads

I'm glad I didn't have to wait 13 years, it only took me about 2 weeks to macropropagate a greenie to get the answer.

There's still a lot of interesting information about these pups that isn't widely know.

Some members might not consider this variegated a'ea'e pup variegated or even an a'ea'e.

Fascinating. Are the pure green pups more vigorous than the variegated ones?

That's a really tough question but if both pups are cared for properly they will be equally vigorous. If they are treated poorly I would expect the all green to be more vigorous but I have no experience with that. I can't even think of a reason why I would want to know that.

OK maybe you're asking which would produce a larger plant or larger bunch and the all green would in both.

Here's a completely Green A'ea'e mother plant with a bunch of all green pups and one white pup.

In the top photo the white pup inside the red circle just happened to be in the background of another photo.
