I don't know what is "normal", but I planted a 28" pup late April and it is now 5' with 3 pups.

Sounds like they are in a pot or "tight" planting conditions.

I always herd my pups into another corral. :)

My bananas plants are in the ground. my calif gold is in an old compost pile with alot of room to grow.

I don't think you can put a number of pups on plant just like you can't count leaves till flowering. It all good as long as they are healthy. :^)

I have 4 of now and it seems to vary but I'd say 5 is "normal" so far. Of course it would have a lot to due with sun, nutrition.. etc as well. The one I have from Jeff Earl has 5 as do two of the others I got from members here. One I got from ebay has only produced 3 pups but was overwintered in a rented greenhouse that was likely kept too cool and the cut plant was choked off for a long time in the spring while others were actively growing.

You can't say how many pups a plant should have because they are always growing more, it's not as if there is a point for any banana that they just stop.

Hi, Dave. Good to read that your California Gold is thriving! You must be providing it with everything it needs. It sure has grown a lot since I sent it to you!

My Cali Gold (from harvey) no pups, but one healthy plant. If I wanted pups I'd feed it root stimulator. I'd rather they come naturally. :^)

Jeff Earl has another on eBay now starting at $29 with no bids. He's sold one so far this year for $51.01 and another for $51.00. Last year bidding started out early in the year rather fierce and he sold a couple for $171! I've got one I could sell but think I'll just hold onto it for now since digging it up might slow down my main plant in flowering.

I'd deliver

Just sold 7 bananas some with 2 to 3 pups and 1 Passiflora Fredericks for $35. I think I'll start concentrating more on propagating California Golds.
