Default Cali Gold Clump with multiple Fruiting Pseudostems

Here's my California Gold Clump w/ fruit on a stump and a flag leaf on the big one. Not bad fruiting results for dealing with a period of 4 consecutive days below freezing in February. Does this help my banana street cred?

Zone 8a baby! Get you some.

Awesome, I need to get your tricks. I am in Fort Worth, this will be my first winter with banana plants. I thought that it was not going to be possible to get fruit.

Very nice. How long have you had them ? Do you cover them in winter? Do you feed them often ? Good job.

I received a large sucker from one of our fellow posters two falls back. I put heat lamps on the pseudostems this past winter to help on the coldest nights. Lost all the leaves, but the pseudostems did fine. These are really right sized for protection and fruit production. The first plant bloomed immediately after breaking dormancy. This flag leaf pseudostem is probably 13 or 14 months old w/ 5 months of that dormant. Pretty fast.

Also, I feed compost and water. Probably 6" deep compost.

Congrats, Buffy! I've got a couple about that size also but no flag leaf yet. We've had two short hot spells but are in a cool period (about 80F for a high the past week) so things are slower than normal. Hope you have a warm Autumn!
