bordelon pollenation question

I'm going to ask a question that proves just how ignorant I am of bananas in the blooming stage. I haven't kept one long enough for it to bloom before, I always sold them.
I know that bordelons are seedy bananas, really inedible. Yet I'd sure like to try and get some seedy bananas on these. I have two that are blooming but they are both in the "female blooms only" open stage. Can they be pollinated together once the male blooms open by using the male flowers from the other plant? or am I doomed because I have only female flowers open?
I guess what I'm asking is "Help, what should I do now??"

Re: bordelon pollenation question

I don't even think you can get that far, 'Bordelon' is a hybrid and sterile as far as I know, I've never heard of it even setting seed and I'm pretty sure it doesn't produce pollen. In a normal seeded banana, you would have to have some female flowers remaining when the male flowers open up, you might have a day or so of this cross over period for self pollination and probably a little longer if you are growing 2 (because it is unlikely they would be at the exacty same stage). But like I mentioned, I don't think 'Bordelon' is even capable of this, but you can try though, you never know, you may get lucky.

Thank you Gabe! I sure appreciate the info. I'll just enjoy the blooms as long as it's practical.

Re: bordelon pollenation question

I never did get my bordelon pollenated, but it has lots of female flowers that are still on the spike and a few male flowers that are still being produced. Will these female blooms actually make bananas, or will they just fall off? They seem to be getting a little bigger, but very slowly.
