Books on Bananas
 

Just found a book named "Bananas you can grow" on Amazon's website. At $250 per copy I found it a trifle pricey. The authors are Waddick and Stokes. Anybody know anything regarding this tome? Good ? Bad? Worth $250? Worth a bucket of warm goat spit?

I got mine for like $12 on Amazon, and that is about all it is worth.

No idea why this book would be so high. It's just a paperback book. It does have some good info in in, though. I've had a copy of it for aoubt 7 or 8 years now and I got mine for around the same price that Taylor did. Look on Stoke's Tropicals website (www.stokestropicals.com); that's who I got mine from. I'm not sure if they still sell it or not.

Order from Stokes, and it will keep you busy for about 1/2 an hour and then you are done. You've already learned more here than you will from the book, if you have spent any time reading this forum.

Its a nice beginner book, has some good photos and basic information about growing, but as soon as it touches anything technical it gets pretty bad (such as genetics and taxonomy). It is full of errors, misconceptions and things that just plain wrong. Don't pay more than $15 for it.

Hey, how do I get one for $250? You have to give them credit for trying. It is a good beginner book but you will learn more here in one week! Mine came from Stokes over seven years ago for under $20.00.
