Default Blue Java (possibly) about to start flowering
Got this Blue Java from TopTropicals.com and everything else that I have got from them has grown out as expected... so fingers crossed for this as well. So I noticed a leaf a week ago that was 1/3 the size of all the rest and then this started poking its head out 2 days ago. Probably going to provide a bit of support just to be on the safe side but it seems pretty upright and sturdy. From what I have read I won't be able to verify this as the real deal until it starts to fruit, but if anyone has any other ways to identify it, I would love to check.

45 gal pot and no straps or bracing yet. Probably going to put something up this weekend for it just incase

It's pretty rare to find blue java at nurseries, as they don't tissue culture it, they'd need to have it as a pup from a true blue java. Good luck! Keep posting photos as the bananas come out.

must be the black stuff is a water hose instead of straps.

do not let her blow over. had some in pots blow over and in less than a day they would bend toward the sun [something i call ohioleaners ] it takes alot of energy from them when that happens.

Here is what i have so far. looks like a decent amount. I am seeing some smaller bananas in the bottom left of this pic. not sure if thats normal or not.

I agree, it looks like a Musa Namwah. These are often sold online and at nurseries as Blue Java. I only know of several places to get the real deal when they have them. Those bananas taste better than what you can get in the store so you still made out.
