Blue Java: cut off rotting layers?
https://imgur.com/a/6iukX
I've been peeling/cutting off the rotting layers (dark and mushy) on my Blue Java near the bottom of the stem. I read that it helps them breathe and prevents the rot to spread into the inside. However I am worried that peeling too much will cause the stem to become flimsy and unable to support the tree. What is the correct approach? Thanks. Edit: Also, in the future is there a way to prevent this rotting before it becomes a problem? |
Re: Blue Java: cut off rotting layers?
It is normal for some rot or damage to happen on the outside . if it is eating through it is likely a severe problem or illness. I have over 300 individual plants now and rot always naturally sheds off. If I had one rotting through nonstop I would send the whole thing to the landfill to not infect any other plants.

Any rotten material must be removed. It will spread from leaf to leaf by contact. Generally rot is the result of cold rainy conditions.,
