You will notice much happening as a leaf gets older. Water repellency diminishes leading to decay and mold growth to name a few. Wait till the days get even shorter and the morning dews get heavier. Then it becomes this..:) Normal for this type of plant......but unsightly. Me.... I do some trimming. . Dead leaf removal by Hostafarian, on Flickr |

Yeah I know older leaves deteriorate and I trim them back too but it's only happening to the ones in the ground in full sun, not my potted plants in the shade. But you did mention something... morning dew The ones in the ground have a ton of morning dew everyday so that might be it |

As the season shortens and your plants pull back your plants and most other plants will do this. Fall is embracing us 1+ minute of less sunlight a day. Expect dramatic changes once the days shorten even more and the average temp changes . Once you get a few seasonal cycles under your belt you will be able to predict the personality of your plants. Do not interpret this as something you are doing wrong with the plant... Nature is giving your plant less light and less heat.. My inground plants that are affected....
