Usually catapillers. They love banana leaves! Especially the newer leaves or the roller. I have even had them eat a large part of the Banana peel while a bunch is filling. For their size they are some eating machines!

I suspected it might be a catapults just haven’t seen them just their handiwork . Only on one plant I hope that’s as far as it goes . I think I will mix them a little cocktail to go along with their dinner

Caterpillars.....one of natures best,

I have late season caterpillars ....I love them.
End of season they do no harm..end games for them unless......

Watch and learn....................Unless they are toasting your plant watch and learn.....or spray them.

Thugs gotta eat too.

I noticed the cigar leaf on one of my pups had holes in it this past Spring. Upon further examination I found a nasty caterpillar/worm suspended in water in the center of the cigar leaf after it unfurled a bit. Dug him out with a small twig and crushed him on the pavement. After that no problem. The pup was only about three feet tall at the time. Not sure what to do if the plant was twelve feet tall but now I have a bunch of green frogs inhabiting my banana patch so hopefully they keep the bugs under control.

I normally have the little tree frogs all in my bananas , I guess they take care of more bugs than I thought . Once that leaf unrolls a bit I’ll see if I can spot it . Only one it’s munching on is a ‘big mike ‘ now
