Here, north of the 49th on the west coast of Canada, we've been in a cold spell for the last week or so. It's currently 0C (32F) and not expected to get any warmer. By this evening it's expected to hit a low of -5C (23F).
The long range forecast is that the temperatures will continue to drop and by Saturday our daytime high will be -3C (27F) with a low of -7C (19F). But the good news is that we're supposed to slowly warm up to 1C (34F) by Monday with a chance of snow flurries.
....I hope everyone has everything tucked in warm and secure.....

My thermometer sensor was position under a large lemon tree about 5' from my house and only recorded a low of 31F last night. Some people in town a couple of miles away reported 25F. At 11am I still had ice 3/8" thick in a tub that had about 2" of rainwater in it. Bananas are not happy!

No need to be sorry. It's something that happens almost every year here up in the Valley of Hearts' Delight. Nothing new really. I'm almost certain that they'll make it through this.

Well you have a good way of looking at things. This is the first year I have my bananas out in the open....orinoco, Rajapuri, misi luki, and namwah.

We get a few nights every year in the low low thirties.

Hopefully your plants are alright. It hit 41 at my place last night. Over the weekend the forecast is for 36, 34 and 34. Hopefully it doesn't get that cold.

They should be. And to me it appears that the brunt of it is over. Last night it dipped just below freezing for only a few hours. As for you, everything except your Gros Michel, Veinte Cohol, Dwarf Red, and Dwarf Cavendish you don't even need to worry about

Here in the hills of Rainbow/Temecula it was 36 this morning also the coldest so far. It's 51 right now with moderate winds. Don't know the humidity until I buy on Ambient weather station WS 2090 that I have my eyes one.

Got to get a job first.

It hit 34 in Huntington Beach this morning. My Veinte Cohol spent the night in the garage, everything else was on its own.

Low of 35 forecasted this coming Tuesday night, and temps in the mid 60s all next week. Looks like this frozen hell is finally coming to an end.

Woke up to a white frost covered yard. First time this winter that the temps dropped below freezing point (30F), but the plants look surprisingly good. 18 banana plants are wrapped in frost cloth, 2 fruit bunches bagged up, some Namwah and some Ice Cream fruits have been harvested and I am debating with myself of harvesting 1 Namwah and one Blue Java bunch or not.Looks like another frosty night ahead of us.

This morning we had a low of 27F but also had about 10 hours below freezing. Ice formed 3/4" thick on a tub of water sitting outside. Banana leaves are already fried. A small amount of the young tips on some of my white sapote are burned back but they look very good overall. I'm not expecting any major issues with these freezes. Last winter we got down to 22F and still did okay. Wish I hadn't uncovered my lychee so soon (I was making room for the utility company to switch the power lines to our new solar system but I learned too late that this won't happen until this Friday.)
