Bbtv
Does my plant have BBTV? It did not look like this last fall. It is supposed to be a Gross Michel.
Sorry for the sideways pictures. I'm not sure why they showed up that way. They were the rightside up before I uploaded them.

Re: Bbtv
That does not look like BBTV to me. The leaf symptoms of BBTV are J hooks and narrow blades. These symptoms normally appear before bunching.

Re: Bbtv
It is my understanding that with BBTV new leaves of the banana plant are stunted and bunched with the edges deformed and yellowish in color.
The leaves in your photo look kind of bunched up but not deformed or yellow at the edges. I wonder if it is because of restricted space because of the wall behind it and the other plant extremely close to it. Might be that it is fighting for enough sunlight and nutrients. I am no expert but do know that Gros Michel unfortunately is susceptible to BBTV |

Re: Bbtv
If you click on the photo, and look at the bottom, there is an edit button, and you can rotate it. I had this same problem a couple of days ago. The pics I have seen of bunchy top, have narrow leaves.

Re: Bbtv
Thanks for the responses. I don't know much about BBTV and the plant was a TC I planted last year, so it should be fine, but the leaves seemed rather bunched up.

Re: Bbtv
Looks at least sorta like BBTV to me - but I've never grown big Mike.

Re: Bbtv
My dwarf Cavendish tends to make rosettes of leaves in darker conditions, but grows taller with more light. What light exposure does it have?

Re: Bbtv
The plant gets pretty good sun most of the day.

Re: Bbtv
Two questions. Is the plant really a Gros Michel (vs some dwarf that would look all bunchy naturally)? Do you have BBTV in your area?
