basjoo new york city
Pictures of my basjoo plants in New York City, in ground for eight years with no winter protection. Metal poles are 10 feet tall above ground for reference.

Re: basjoo new york city
Great pics! And that Ae Ae is a real beauty! Is that yours? How is it doing now? My basjoos survived their first winter with no problems despite having some growing problems the previous summer. Now they are growing back well but it will be a few years before they get to a nice size!
Thanks for sharing!

Re: basjoo new york city
The ae ae is mine growing in Hollywood Florida but the rest of the plants are in NYC. once the basjoo establishes itself it will come back after the winter from the corm (my clump of plants must be about 8-10 feet in diameter by now). For the first few years I covered the basjoo with shredded leaves in the fall for insulation but have done nothing for the past 3 winter (one of which had very cold temps).
