My uncle had great bananas while serving in Vietnam - US Military. They were shorter than American bananas but tasted like them. They were short and were green and turned yellow and were fat in the middle and short.

There are about 1,200 different banana cultivars and your description may as well fit half of them. Sorry, but a lot more info would be needed to correctly identify that particualr banana which your uncle had. However, if you are looking for banana plants that produce a similar fruit, we surely could point you in the right direction.
