A bud in September. Sigh. Pretty soon you'll need to put your space heater out there at night.

Hey, when that bud opens let's see pictures of the flowers so we can compare them with Orinoco.

love okra, have a few starting right now.
I grow elephant ears for greens because its hard to grow other "regular" greens during the summer here (bugs are horrible)

How often do you folks water your large banana plants? Do you thoroughly soak or just sprinkle? I noticed mounds of mulch around the banana plants in your pictures. Does that mean you water less often? Can you get away with not watering for over a week in the summer (without rain)?

I'm still new at this and need all the advice I can get.

All my Banana's besides the one in the pic are watered every other day that happen to be in pots, and the others in the ground get watered everyday. When I water the one's from the pic its a heavy soaking, since I don't have a water line out there yet.. The mulch keeps out the weeds too.. :^)

Re: Banana's on the Patio..

watering frequency is going to depend on your soil type too... if you use a lot of perlite like me, you will need to water more frequently. i water every other day, sometimes more frequently if it's really hot out
