Some pics of our backyard. Most of these were taken early this morning.
![]() Dwarf Cavendish and alphonse karr bamboo. The neighbors 2 doors down built a 2 story adition that would look right into the yard if the bamboo wasn't there! ![]() Pineapple patch. ![]() From left to right in the ground are Misi Luki, Namwah, and Pisang Klotek. I have lots of potted pups ready for sale in front of them. ![]() Giant bird of paradise. ![]() The extremely rare Aloe Suzannae in the left container and Mexican grass tree on the right. Everybody's gardens look great and very colourful, and so neat and tidy too. At the moment mine is not at it's best as we are training 2 new young dogs to be garden friendly, and not to dig holes, and chew plants. So the new small bananas are caged in rebar to protect them against rough play, and the flower beds are festooned with wire netting.
This part looks half-way respectable. and you can't see the fences here! This is one of the culprits - Zuki, a 105lb baby at 1 year old and still growing. and Salsa his playmate. This is a picture of Zuki with 2 of his brothers at the farm where we got him. |

Good question! I haven't seen any form of bloom yet so I've had no seed. If I do and can collect some I'll let you know. However, not sure that they'd come true to type. I saw some for sale in 3 gal. pots at the local Home Depot a few weeks back. You might check and see if your's has any. I was surprised to see them there.

I did read that the seed pod makes a loud pop and then throws the seeds far and near. they probably won't grow true from seed but you can try some.

This is a great thread. A great source for landscaping ideas. We moved into our new house last year and I just started planting this year. Started with two unknown bananas, 2 different cannas, and white butterfly ginger. I've been trading plants since April of this year and by next year the yard should be pretty nice. I call this my privacy fence.
