Re: Bananas in my garden
The parents of Thing Two (the second of the Gros Michel plants from SDarkman) are proud to announce the birth of her (his? its?) babies.
[IMG][/IMG] For some bizarre reason they began ripening erratically throughout the bunch this week, so I removed the supports today and let the whole thing slowly lower itself into my arms. Some of the ripe ones on the bottom inevitably got a little squished but given that the bunch formed mid January it seemed a normal 9-month gestation. One of the pups is already 15' high and I expect great things from it. |

Re: Bananas in my garden
Even though you got your plant from my mat, your inflorescence looks different than mine. I currently have two fruit bunches of those as well. It sure is a weird mutant and finally has to go. I am grateful to say that it will be an easy task since I have the real deal now thanks to our generous member Hector. |

Re: Bananas in my garden
Read your post about corm pruning, any good videos on this anywhere? Curious as I grow my nanners in a limited area and would be great to keep better control of my matts.

Re: Bananas in my garden
Thanks for the reply. I usually pull pups that same way or with my pry bar. But when harvested past bunches just cut the old plant down to ground and let it just rot away. Never thought of cutting out those pieces of corm under it.

Re: Bananas in my garden
Yesterday I trimmed the “heart” (remainder of peduncle) off the Namwa bunch.
