Banana Verieties / Species - Wild VS Patented
Hello Dear Friends,
I was wondering if anyone of the forum professionals may know the answer, How can I know if a Banana Variety is Legally Protected By Patent or it's a wild species that no one has patent on ? For my understanding, There should be a Book of all Banana Species that are listed and for those who aren't listed as Patent by somone, If you know about a reliable source, that I can get this data from It will be a major help, I appreciate your time and kindness, Cheers.

Re: Banana Verieties / Species - Wild VS Patented
There are plenty of good books out there. An excellent one to start with is by the authors Kepler and Rust "The world of Bananas in Hawaii: Then and Now".

Re: Banana Verieties / Species - Wild VS Patented
Very few bananas have patents on them, you can search the US patent office database for some. Wild species should not be able to have patents on them, some selections of wild species do, but the legality/enforceability of such a patent is debatable.
