Any banana usuallly has to have some size to it before its ready to come back from a winter. I bet it could do it if you started in the spring with a strong plant.

I have these small pups obtained late last summer, that barely a foot in trunk height during the fall, potted in 6" diameter pots, that only got leaf damaged but maintained their pseudostems alive during the winter: Goldfinger, Basjoo, FHIA-17. But these small pots were placed under the eaves of the roof but still outside the house, while musa rose that was planted in the ground can't be moved. An unfair comparison when it comes to energy balance of heat received by plants outside during the winter.

Default Rose hardiness

I agree with Gabe, based on experience in San Diego.

I'm still workin' thru the old posts, and this was a good string. Even here in central Florida I got caught by some late frosts this year, so your experience with cold weather is a help. Will a Kru or Iholene corm survive a freeze? All I had this time were some super tough Orinocos, but I'm about to put out TC plants of Thousand Fingers, Kru, Red Iholene, Dwarf Brazilian, High Color Mini Cavendish, and Pitogo. Anyone know what sizes I should expect by next December? What needs to come in at say, 35 F?
