Banana trees toppling over??
For the past month or so I’ve had three banana trees just up and fall over about half the way up the trunk. The latest one was today and it had no fruit as yet. The other two had a bunch on the tree and fell over just about in half as well. I cut the fruit off, hung it up, and it ripened ok but not like it could have on the tree.
Any ideas as to what is going on? TKS! |

Re: Banana trees toppling over??
Do you fertilizer them regularly? Only thing I could think of is they were weak and stressed, or a huge gust of wind, but even a strong tree can withstand some of those.

Re: Banana trees toppling over??
Wind? Some varieties absolutely need propping, every time. Insufficient root mass?

Re: Banana trees toppling over??
LOL yeah, hear you but just haven’t thought of taking any when they’re already down. Trees are just kind of broke in half at the midpoint on the trunk. I generally water them everyday, but we have been a little lean with the rain this summer to help as well.
I’ve thought fertilizer. They look healthy enough but.....probably don’t fertilize enough. |
