Mason figs are one of my Passions heres a littil info on the mission fig

The Spanish were the first to bring the fig to the United States (Florida by 1575). The Spanish Franciscan missionaries brought figs into California when they established a mission at San Diego in 1769. The fig they brought is "Mission." And, it is still a significant commercial fig.

Cool, thanks for the info. If I ever have any questions about figs, I will ask you.

Costco sells them cheap! Like $6-$7(in Seattle area) for 9 of them in a box. Costco's biggest selling store is the one there in San Diego. It should be cheaper there in San Diego.

I know a lot of people grow mango trees in the San Diego area, also. I'm sure Richard would know of some of them personally.

I purchase a mango last year against all advise. Walking out of the store someone stop us and asked if we were carrying a mango and then wished us the best of luck. This year it flowered and is producing mangos, but I will cut them off since the tree is still just a five foot stick and not ready to fruit.

Tony, those are the tall 'Orinoco', they are just a little short due to the conditions.
