Banana tree down

My banana tree blew down, can I save the bananas? How, what do I do with them, cut them off and hang them? Garyinkona

Re: Banana tree down

Depends on several things. If the pseudostem isn't broken, if the corm is mostly intact, I have stood up plants after storms, braced with a standard triple brace like you see around larger trees, heaped up soil around the base, and provided plenty of water. Have carried fruit to maturity this way. If they are nearly mature anyway, maybe go ahead and cut and hang the bunch.

Good luck!

Re: Banana tree down

If the stem is kinked I would suggest leaving the plant exactly as it is, to avoid more damage to the remaining part of the pstem thats still intact. If the roots ripped and the whole tree including the corm went down I would suggest just propping it up good and they should ripen alright.
