Banana Question

I just moved into a house two weeks ago, that had beautiful banana trees in the fall. The former owners cut them down to about 12 inches or so. Will these come back? They are partially covered with mulch. I do not see any signs of life. I have never grown a banana tree before. I live in the North Texas area and it is in the 70's and low 80's right now. Can anyone tell me when to expect it to grow?

They will probably come back, but give them a while. It could be May before you see them pop up, or even later depending on the species/variety. If it's musa basjoo, they should start growing really soon. Just have patience. :)

I just got back from a trip and I checked on my plants this morning. Each stump has a sprout shooting up about 4 inches! Yeah! It must be a musa basjoo. I need to see what they look like. I'll look that up.
