Re: a banana mystry?
Pretty little bananas, but there was a mix up somewhere.
They are with out a doubt not Orinoco plants. Orinoco has no red at all in the leaf. Pink, yes, but no red. |
Re: a banana mystry?
The roots grew over to that spot due to the bricks. Then sprouted when exposed to air & light. .... I thought this was possible as I've seen pups too far from the mother plant to be directly off the corm. ...

Re: a banana mystry?
The new plant is 100% not dwarf Orinoco. And is in fact dwarf cavendish. Everything from the growth patten, roundness of the leaves, leaf color and "look" and wine spots verify dwarf cavendish. Not a mutation for sure! I would be taking bricks out looking for a connection!!! I wouldn't be able to help myself lol.
I honestly doubt a connection that far. But I have learned to not bet against banana plants. They can do some strange and amazing things. A Musa Mekong Giant can put 10-15' away easily. I'm very interested!! I hope you figure it out! Let us know if you do. Oh your dwarf Orinoco in the picture is for sure dwarf Orinoco! |

Re: a banana mystry?
well no evidence of roots growing that far . and I examined the base of the current groth closely and this one clearly was growing up through the old dead psudostem along with 2 pups off to one side so still no answer did find one old pic with the plant in the corner but not a good one one leaf shows a little dark in the photo but it was not red honest my wife may have a different pic on her phone I will check plant was near 4 ft tall when this picture was taken
